Go Green With Sharp’s Aquos HDTVs

sharp-aquos-dh77Televisions are typically one of the home’s biggest energy guzzlers. Sharp hopes to change that with its DH77 series Aquos HDTVs, which are some of the most environmentally-friendly 1080p LCD TVs you can buy.

Don’t just take Sharp’s word for it. The DH77 models have recently been awarded the Euro Flower, an EU Eco Label that’s been designed to help consumers identify products and services with reduced environmental impacts.

Eco-friendliness

Sharp is the only European consumer electronics manufacturer to have been awarded the Euro Flower for its LCD TVs. It’s been awarded to the DH77 series Aquos TVs because they satisfy the following EU criteria:

– Power consumption on standby below 1 W
– Low electricity consumption when in use
– Recommendations for correct environmentally-conscious usage
– Designed for higher durability and use of materials that are to recycling.

The DH77 series HDTVs have a power consumption rated at 142 Watts. This drops to an eco-friendly 0.5 Watts when left in standby mode.

A greener HDTV

Much of the energy saving comes courtesy of Sharp’s Optical Picture Control (OPC) technology.

OPC works by reducing the overall power consumption by automatically adjusting the DH77′s backlight according to the ambient lighting conditions of the room it’s in.

The DH77 series HDTVs also boast 1080p full HD resolutions, the latest 100Hz technology, built-in Freeview, 3x HDMI connections and a contrast ratio of 2,000:1.

Available in 32-, 42-, 46- and 52-inch sizes, the DH77 HDTVs also feature a green eco-button on the remote control. This enables viewers to reduce the energy consumption of the set with a single button press.
