HP tx2 laptop is all ‘touch-feely’

touchsmart-tx2From Microsoft’s Surface to the Apple iPhone, ‘multi-touch’ is the ongoing buzz phrase in interface design circles. HP is the latest company to add the technology to its laptop range. Cue the HP TouchSmart tx2 Notebook PC.

Announced last year, the TouchSmart tx2 features a 12.1-inch LED touchscreen display. This screen can be swivelled through 180 degrees to transform the tx2 into a Tablet PC.

Like the iPhone, the TouchSmart tx2′s killer feature is its capacitive multi-touch technology. The display accepts simultaneous input, so you can use both hands to resize photos or swipe across the screen to browse through folders.

Revolutionary touchscreen?

“The new HP TouchSmart tx2 will transform the way consumers use their notebooks,” claims Dave Brabham at HP’s UK arm.

“No more scrambling to use the keys and touchpad for simple tasks like navigating your music files, or even for complicated tasks like editing photos – it’s all there for them on the screen.”

With a choice of AMD Turion X2 dual core processors and ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics, the TouchSmart tx2 easily has enough power under the hood for office or entertainment.

Available in the UK any time now, HP suggests a recommended retail price starting at £799. Need to know more? Then watch the TouchSmart tx2 demo video.
