Welcome to Digibode

So what is ‘Digibode’? In short, this is a site that embraces the idea of the ‘smart home’. You might also know it as the ‘digital home’, the ‘future home’ or the ‘connected home’.
What all of these terms describe is a fusion of computing, networking, broadband Internet, HDTV, home automation, home cinema and gaming in the 21st Century home.
If that wasn’t enough to be getting on with, there’s also an interesting ‘eco-home’ angle to throw in.
Smart home, smarter living
Digibode is not about Internet-connected fridges. Internet-connected fridges are a dumb idea, dreamt up by tech-tripping futurists with nothing better to do than put the words ‘Internet-connected’ in front of household items. It may occasionally be about robotic vacuum cleaners, however.
In fact, Digibode has a broad reach. It stretches from the latest Internet-connected HDTVs and home networking gear to clever Digital Video Recorders and web-based services.
It’s about things like the BBC iPlayer and iTunes; gargantuan Pioneer KURO plasmas and inch-thin OLED sets; digital movie rentals over Xbox Live and the PlayStation network.
But it’s also about the interconnectivity of these devices and services; how they work and how to get the best out of them.
Rebooting the digital home
In short: Digibode is about leading a digital lifestyle and the technologies and systems that enable it.
With this in mind, the Digibode website is split into four different sections: ‘What’s New’ will showcase the latest and greatest products aimed at the modern home. ‘Opinion’, meanwhile, will put this new technology into context via regular ranting.
The ‘Advice’ section will feature tutorials and tips on how to get the most out of today’s computing and consumer electronics kit. ‘Inspiration’ will show you what can be done with the ‘digital home’ idea and just how far people are taking it.
If you’re already downloading music, shopping online or watching digital television, you’re already living a digital lifestyle. You’re already living in a digital home.
